We recently reached out to some of our long-standing customers to taste test our newest creation, the probiotic Hemp and Cacao Baked Granola. We're lucky enough to count Hannah Singleton, one half of the mother-daughter duo behind Healthyluxe.com.au, as one of our customers and naturally, as pro foodies, we thought Hannah and her mum would make great taste testers. We caught up to talk about all things life, food and fun...

  1. Tell us a bit about yourself, what you do and why food and nutrition are important to you.

I am a media and communications graduate with a passion for health and wellbeing, as well as writing, styling and photography. Together with my mum, Jen, who is a naturopath/nutritionist, we created Healthy Luxe as a platform to share our healthy recipes as well as my mum’s vast nutritional knowledge. Through Healthy Luxe, we have been lucky enough to work with some of the leading brands in the health & wellness industry and now have our own recipe app with the aim of making healthy recipes & health education more accessible. For the past 18 months, we have worked predominately full time on our business, something we are so grateful to be able to do. Aside from working on Healthy Luxe, I do some freelance photography & writing work and my mum still sees clients via Skype.

  1. What does an average day look like for you? How does what you eat impact this?

An average/ideal day for me starts by going to an Xtend Barre class just around the corner from my apartment, followed by a walk to my local coffee shop. I then head home to make breakfast (usually a big bowl of acai) before getting started on work. Some days I will work from a cafe/library when I am uploading recipes to our app or having a more ‘admin’ focused day. When I am creating content I work from home so I have access to my kitchen. For lunch, I usually make a salad or avocado on toast, sometimes with a poached egg and some greens… Or on a content day, my lunch will consist of whatever I have made (sometimes raw cake… not complaining!). I often feel like I need a little energy boost in the afternoon so I will sometimes have another coffee or green tea and square of chocolate or a fresh fruit & veg juice. For dinner, I often make a vegetable stir fry with brown rice or salmon with roast vegetables. Every day is quite different but when I am conscious about getting in enough veggies and eating nutritiously dense foods, I do notice a big difference in my energy levels & mood. Drinking plenty of water also really helps with my energy.

  1. Do you have any morning breakfast rituals or routines that you like to start the day with?

Coffee and acai! I always go for a walk to get my coffee in the morning (almond or oat milk piccolo) followed by a peanut butter acai bowl at home. My acai is always topped with Farmer Jo Honey Granola with pistachios, goji berries, coconut and extra nut butter. Such a great start to the day!

  1. What foods do you find best to support healthy energy levels?

I think the best way to support energy levels is by including a variety of foods in your diet and drinking lots of water. For me, I find the best foods to boost energy (aside from coffee!) include fresh vegetable juices, protein such as beans, tofu, eggs or salmon as well as nuts/seeds (usually in the form of nut butter).

  1. What are your five top tips to staying happy, healthy and full energy to support a busy lifestyle?
  1. Stay hydrated.
  2. Eating is a pleasure so find healthy foods that you enjoy and eat mindfully.
  3. Become more conscious of the products you buy/read ingredient lists to ensure there are no unnecessary additives.
  4. Find a form of exercise/movement that you enjoy and aim to move for at least 30-60 minutes a day.
  5. Stay connected with your friends & family.

  1. What do you think of our Hemp & Cacao Baked Granola and how do you like to eat yours?

I LOVE it! It tastes like cocoa pops, only healthy (and better!). It’s great as a smoothie bowl topper, especially on top of cacao nice cream or if I’m short on time it is delicious simply with coconut yoghurt, fresh berries and peanut butter… Perfect for breakfast or dessert. I’m excited to start using this product in recipes, too!

  1. What’s something funny we don’t know about you?

Hmm, I’m not sure if it’s especially funny but something people may not know about me is that I have 7 siblings!
